Horrific nursing home death probed

An 87 year old woman spent the last few years of her life strapped to a wheelchair. She lived at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre, an east Toronto nursing home. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease. She tried to slip out of her restraints when she got stuck and died. "I put my mother in a nursing home to keep her safe, and to have her life end this way is something I never could have imagined," said her daughter, Lynda Coxon. Police said Sunday that she died of "asphyxiation". The family said that the caregivers at the centre were very loving and caring to their mother who had lived with them for four years.

I think that this is horrible. Nursing homes need to have limits on the amount of seniors that they have. This old lady died because there were not enough nurses at the home to look after her. There were too many others for the nurses to look after. This is very sad and is a terrible thing that has happened. More and more we hear about terrible deaths in the news because of cost cuts.
